Two thoughts as the result of a 45 yr career in business:
There is no loyalty, you are completely responsible for your own career. No one has power over you unless you give it to them. You can take it back at any time. There are of course consequences.
this is a great storyline of course and we need to go with the flow. But I just can’t shake the thought that lives in the back of my mind that even though Mike has to say the words, Bernie needs to be called out as the decision maker.
Made the mistake once of calling into a radio show that was asking for unemployed people to call in and take the opportunity to pitch themselves… the announcer made fun of me and totally killed any chance I had at opportunity. He was all proud of himself for finding a janitorial job for a homeless man, but hated me for being an engineer and not homeless. I found that he was doing the same thing to other callers, and the station cancelled his segment after another week of it.

Mike should fire his boss. Or, failing that, fire himself, and start a new company with his coder girlfriend…

I’ve had to lay people off and I’ve been laid off myself. Both suck, but if I had the choice…

What use is political influence if you have it and never use it?
