Kids, just tell yourselves they’re happy that you’ll be having a good time. They shall miss you terribly while you’re gone. That bottle of champagne in the ’fridge was just to help them with their pain this evening.
The first time my sister and I went to Girl Scout Resident Camp, I loved it! Her, not so much. I spent a lot of time that year searching for her as she kept running away. The next year, she stayed home and I went. It was much more enjoyable for both of us. :o) I think I went every year, for 4-5 years to two different camps for two weeks at each camp. I got to hike a lot of the Appalachian trail (about 200 miles total) and learned a lot of outdoor skills. I am a little rusty – 50 years later, but I haven’t forgotten them all. ;o)
This seems almost like an old Peanuts strip, where they ran out of the school and were immediately ushered into a camp bus. “Whatever happened to going home?”

I’m going to the Poconos at the end of July. I’ve never been there but I can’t wait! I hope to ride my bike on the Jim Thorpe trail!
