From the Wikipedia entry on Ridley Scott: "The industrial landscape in West Hartlepool would later inspire visuals in Blade Runner, with Scott stating, “There were steelworks adjacent to West Hartlepool, so every day I’d be going through them, and thinking they’re kind of magnificent, beautiful, winter or summer, and the darker and more ominous it got, the more interesting it got.”
@Number Three Today’s strip IS funny , It’s only fair that our HERO Mr Andrew Capp’s name should be on a plaque, because if not for him we would not have anything to comment about :o) on a separate note my name is on a a plaque in our village because I used to belong to one of the comities , my avatar is a picture of Sleepy because that’s what iI am after spending a sleepless night because of an all night power cut in the middle of a heat wave we could not sleep a wink and when the lights came back this morning at 4amI had to run around the house re-setting our clocks :o{ how was your day? our hump day should be busy but calm I hope , no shopping to do or errands to run , we both are in a drowsy good mood ,so we can relax, keep safe and thanks for caring young Lady
I saw your comment late yesterday saying that you had a power cut. Glad you’re back!
Today I went to my volunteering and the phone only rang ONCE and the call came from Manchester. It’s been awfully quiet. Luckily I was only there for 2 hours otherwise I’d have been bored stiff.
Every time I look at your avatar it makes me sleepy! My Dad used to get me up around 6am for school. I can kind of get it though. We never had a car so I couldn’t get to school quickly like that otherwise I no doubt would have able to get up later. I was constantly yawning at school. I was grateful when the weekend arrived. Thankfully I’ve got my own routine now.
Stay safe, stay well and stay happy, pal. Looking forward to a couple of juicy beefburgers and thick, steak cut fries later.

Technically, doesn’t Andy already have something to commemorate his fame in his city? Like — oh I don’t know — a statue?

Probably a sign by the canal as well…Andy Capp fell in here!

Will Guitar Bob get his due? Probably not. He’s never booked the same place twice.

He is not a “drunken layabout” he is an unfortunate victim of the economic situation.

Does Andy get some sort of fee for having his name up there? Maybe some free beer.

Shouldn’t there be a couple hundred of those plaques?

A few years ago we took a cycling tour of Yorkshire. We found Skeldale House with its plaque.

A better descriptor for Andy would be “infamous.”

Then there’s the ones at the other pubs alluding to the fact that he never pays his bar tab.
