There was a book written by Dr. Charlie Shedd titled: “Smart Dads I Know” detailing what different dads would do to spend time with their children. One story was about a long distant trucker who would bring one of his children on the road with him. I would definitely qualify Sergio as a “Smart Dad”.

In my Puerto Rican household you wouldn’t dare call your father home interrupting a game of dominoes just to stroke your ego.

C &C have summed up one of the hardest things for a DAD to fit in; yet it’s VITALLY important for the child to know it, deep in their hearts.

My oldest daughter is 35 and we still have a standing Friday lunch date. Although I’ve been a partner in a major law firm for my adult career, that time is sacrosanct and nothing takes priority over that

Good for Sergio for giving her the benefit of the doubt and granting his daughter her request over his own comfort. In the end, thet opportunity of Tia and Hermano being away for some one-on-one time.

There is something manipulative in her purpose just being to check whether he’d come when she called. By the time she’s an adult, I hope Gracie as learned well to let Dad have time to hang out with his friends, pre-schedule things, and being honest and open about voicing her needs. Like many kids her age, Gracie is book smart beyond her years but emotionally and socially very much still a baby.

So am I missing something here? He answers the phone by saying “good”? Why not “hola”?
