I am thoroughly enjoying this arc and hoping it continues for a while longer.

No one of Gus’ experience would ever carry cups or glasses with their fingers on the inside of the rim, not even dirty ones while busing the table

Those would be glasses for the bottle he is opening in the last panel.Someone needs a drink! Specifically Arlo. And I would not fault that move by Gus at all.Good man!

in every job that I had, people drank alcohol. it was those who drank to the point of unable to perform were the problem.

Are Arlo and Janis retired now? They seem to have a lot of free time for this. I know the strip sometimes delves into their old careers but they still seem a little young to be retired.

He needs to be assigned a task that he can succeed at. Then he’ll feel like he’s helping again.

I can’t tell whether “You’re working!” is because (1) he shouldn’t be working or (2) he’s yakking while he’s supposed to be working.
