That’s a weird feeling when you hear that said. I have been referred to as someone’s “white” friend or someone’s “gay” friend when at gatherings. And at a bar mitzvah, I was once called the gentile friend of the Jewish boy by his Grandmother. Each time I was comfortable until it was specifically pointed out that I was different from everyone else there. Then I felt awkward.
I went to church with my white neighbor friends when I was a kid. The Pastor remarked that he was glad to have “miss black” here. I had no idea he was referring to me until after services ,he apologized. I didn’t know who “miss black” was, because back then, I was still called “little colored girl”.

Often a bit uncomfortable when you find out you’re the minority.

I’ve been down that road, but I wasn’t known as “white friend” more like “that black girl”

Unfortunately we’re all cubbyholed by our appearance, racial or otherwise.

Hey, remarks like that come from everyone, doesn’t mean they are meant negatively.

As I’ve always said “It’s in humanity, not in races.”
