Just had to explain to an old friend that I could not associate with him. He has gone full Qcumber MAGAT clash of civilizations Muslims aren’t real Americans.
They’re telling her to go back where she came from because they simply CAN’T stand how beautiful she is. The boys stare because they want her, and the girls stare because they are insanely jealous of how gorgeous Huda is!
The first time I saw a woman wearing a full niqab i was working the register in the store where i work. I admit i was a little uneasy as people with their faces hidden have long been associated in Western cultures with criminals. When she came up to pay she was friendly and i got over the fear of the unknown right away and it does not faze me at all now. A couple years later i was in a similar position when a white woman started berating a woman wearing a burqa. I had never seen this type of hatred before and I froze, not knowing how to react to the situation. The white person left and i apologized to the woman in the burqa for my failure to react to the abuse she had suffered. She said it was no big deal but I know differently. No one should ever have to suffer that type of treatment. i hope I have grown strong enough to step up if i see that I happen again. Anyways I wanted to say thank you to the artist/writer of this comic for helping educate me and I hope that our society becomes more accepting in the very near future.
Please do NOT go away. We love you. :-) The haters always eventually find a new target and move on. (Then you can help us love THEM through the craziness.)
Like your positive take. To be honest my eyes do linger when I see someone dressed different, or hair is different. Inside my head is going interesting, new, and more dat more data.
Whenever I hear something like, “go back to your country”, I think of the song that some of the female writing staff on Late Night with Seth Meyers sang:
Go back to your coun~try
No-body’s stopping ya
Go back to your coun~try
Go back to Africa
And that was confusing because I’m not from Africa, and Africa is NOT a country. I’m from Omaha Nebraska, the literal opposite of Africa.

I ticked the heart. Not for the subject but to give some love to you. The scum is always the most visible unfortunately.

I saw a woman in a Burka that had sequins on it. The sun hit the sequins and flashed colored reflections of light. It made my day.
