For about 1 km along a road in Portola Valley Ca there is nothing but a thicket of blackberry bushes. I want to say it’s Portola Road but it might be Alpine. It’s been so long ago that I forget. Problem is that the bush is right uppitiest at the road, so if one is going to gather the berries is is best to park elsewhere and walk along the frontage with your buckets. MMMMM fresh blackberries.
If it’s blackberry season, it’s also chigger season—those nearly invisible red mites that burrow into your skin and itch with the fire of a thousand burning suns!

At least you can snack on the way.

Those blackberries have lots of nasty thorns. They are definitely perilous.

This is the second homage to Oz that I have seen in todays comics. The other one is in Strange Brew.

I wonder if that is their backyard or a nearby field! Very good artwork today, Brian.

Wasn’t there a video game called “Pitfall”? You ran and jumped logs and crocodiles, swang on vines and fell down holes, or such.

I’m not into puns – we have Pastis and several others to thank for that – but today’s is just pure genius! Kudos!
