Wouldn’t it be nice if we could confine these nitwits to Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida? (With other redneck states available for the overflow.)

Trump was so weak with COVID he dropped his overnight bag at Walter Reed after only carrying it a few feet

Darwin is having a difficult time keeping up with all the morons:

From The Peterson Center on Healthcare and the Kaiser Family Foundation July 1, 2021: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/brief/covid-19-continues-to-be-a-leading-cause-of-death-in-the-u-s-in-june-2021/

“In June 2021, an average of more than 300 people per day continue to die of COVID-19 in the U.S., even as vaccines are readily available to most of the population. Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. have been among unvaccinated people.”

    From The Guardian July 7, 2021: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jul/08/fears-of-new-us-covid-surge-as-delta-spreads-and-many-remain-unvaccinated

“More than nine out of 10 Americans who died from Covid-19 in the US in June were unvaccinated, according to Dr Anthony Fauci – a statistic that health officials say is especially concerning given the prevalence of vaccine hesitancy in some regions and the rise of the Delta variant. Maryland reported this week that 100% of those who died from coronavirus there in June had not been vaccinated, while more than 93% of those with new cases or who were hospitalized were similarly unprotected”.

    From Business Insider July 9, 2021: https://www.businessinsider.com/us-coronavirus-deaths-nearly-all-among-unvaccinated-cdc-head-2021-7

“The estimate is in line with findings from a June analysis from the Associated Press, which found that only 0.8% of people who died from COVID-19 in the US in May were vaccinated”.

@FrankErnesto – I live in Iowa, and today I did an completely unscientific experiment. I bought groceries for the week and stopped at Home Depot to purchase a box of wood screws. During my visit to each store, I counted the total number of customers I saw and the number of those customers who were (like me) wearing a mask (I’m mid-70’s and fully vaccinated but still wear a mask when in public). Result (which most definitely CANNOT be extrapolated to a larger population, and which does not include me in either the total count or the count of those wearing a mask): 74 customers total in both stores; 14 wearing masks.

According to the most recent data I can find, Iowa’s percentage of total population completely vaccinated is between 48% and 49%. The percentage of the total population actually eligible to get vaccinated (all those 12 or older) is higher, but I couldn’t find that figure with just a quick search. If you figure that perhaps 60% of the total eligible population has been vaccinated, I should have seen about 40% (or about 30 people) wearing masks because they haven’t been vaccinated. The fact that I saw only 14 wearing masks tells me there’s a very good possibility that several people not wearing masks have not been vaccinated and therefore could be carriers of COVID merrily going on their way infecting their fellow citizens.

Such a tragedy—Trump and his minions could just as easily followed the science as attacked it, and the Trumpanistas would have believed that, saving hundreds of thousand of lives. What would that have cost them? But no—make an initial dumb statement, and then you can’t retract or correct it, so you have to double down.

I have been publicly speculating for at least a couple of years about just why Trump was so supported by Putin—did Putin have something on Trump (positive pressure like loan backing, Moscow Trump Tower, etc.; or negative, like videos), or did Putin just recognize that Trump was just such an idiot and clown that he would just work to destroy the US without explicit instructions. The Guardian have come by some papers (which they are still trying to verify) that pretty much confirm the latter.

If Trump had said “I’m getting my shots as soon as possible”, how many would still be alive today? 300,000? 400,000? Those deaths are right on his doorstep, and nobody cares.

If it were only the unvaccinated that were going to die then it wouldn’t bother me but they’re bringing down the recovery curve and extending the problem.
