Now it serves as a historical “funcicle”.

I was an only child, but I had 17 local cousins. I loved it when my cousins would come to spend a a few days or a week at my house.

I lived on a street where there were 5 other girls & across the alley were 2 more, so my Summers were never dull or boring. And, I was an early reader, so I was walking to the Library by 5th grade…small town, same one my Dad grew up in, so I was safe going anywhere & everywhere. And, the Library had Air Conditioning, a bit of a luxury in the mid-60’s.

I had one of those lists. My dad kept spilling beer all over it, and the ink would smear and we’d never be able to read it again. That’s about the time he’d announce we’d be going to the Hamm’s brewery for another free tour.

We took a school trip to Carowinds! And I loved the summer reading club at my local library. Our trips to the beach are some of my fondest childhood memories…
