Since when has Agnes become a legalist?

Bet that receptionist wishes there was a principal’s office to send Agnes to!!

she wants the whole tooth and nothing but the tooth…

Grandma must have run away to avoid the inevitable confusion!

Better when you didn’t notice the sign or see yesterday’s strip and you head into this with no context thinking that’s probably a teacher and Alice is finally tipping over the edge.

If her name isn’t on the form, it’s probably not legal… ☺

Just give her a rubber ball to squeeze for pain and get to work.

Two observations:

(1) Panel Two is Agnes at her finest, her imagination running wild over the possible tortures one might endure once in the dentist’s clutches.

(2) Dental humor involving small children has come a long way since this Golden Oldie:

Kid: Mom, he lied — he wasn’t a painless dentist.

Mom: Did he hurt you?

Kid: No, but he yelled when I bit his thumb, just like any other dentist.

Agnes is a minor, Grandma would have to sign anything for her.

Notice the signs.
