I don’t see why Lisa’s complaining. The RW doesn’t want those brown people here anyway.

I think we know who’s putting up the roadblocks. And we know why:

Look at Afghanistan and see the nation you want the U.S. to become, Benson. Voting rights eliminated, a strong centralized religous authoritarian theocracy. Too bad women such as yourself would be subjugated completely, forced to wear a hijab when out of the house, not able to drive nor hold a job, be pretty much a baby factory but, hey, can’t have it all.

Is it possible the route from Afghanistan can be handled any more incompetently? We have lots of history to look to for lessons. We aren’t the first ‘empire’ to tuck our tail and flee from Afghanistan, abandoning allies. When the Russians fled their puppet government lasted longer than the latest one.

This might be funny, except for the disaster for America, for Afghanistan, and for all the human lives lost.

No humor intended in this cartoon. More so the recognition that the Taliban has complete control over the evacuation efforts. So very sad and tenuous for all of the US citizens and supporters left behind.

Those (American) folk were warned months ago to get out. Now.. they are taking up valuable seats for the “friends” that America promised to take care of.. A cluster **** if ever there was one.

We have a human tragedy building such as we have not seen in recent times. It is sad that the left can’t help from taking political potshots and spewing their ideological hatred in light of what is unfolding in Afghanistan. It is apparent that the left had no regard and could care less about their fellow Americans trapped behind Taliban lines and frantically scrambling to find anyway out. Numerous reports of Americans using iPhones, social media, Facebook, Twitter etc. asking for directions, hiding their families, begging for help… I don’t know how this is going to play out but I am heartsick over the concern for the American and Afghan civilians at risk.

A lot of people have been casting stones over 20 20 hindsight and asking what should be done now. I’ll tell you precisely. Stage a military operation to retake Bagram AFB. Use SEAL teams dropped at night, air support, followed by transport aircraft loaded with combat troops. Bagram’s a few miles away from Kabul, that doubles our operational base for evacuation and gives us far more flexibility in locating and retrieving our people. I’m sure the Pentagon has several such operational scenarios on hand. Question is, does Biden have the courage to make that call?

Thank George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Trump for the larger part of this mess. Biden was the only one with the guts to go ahead a pull out of Afghanistan.

I’m hoping we can get all the women and girls that want to leave Afghanistan out of Afghanistan.

Well hey, we must’ve trusted them when a certain nitwit and his SecState agreed to a May 2021 withdrawal as long as Taliban cease attacks on US personnel. So why not trust them now. (Yes it’s sarcasm.)

Either Joe is a bold faced liar and/or his dementia is every bit as bad as his detractors feared and he doesn’t remember the warnings and advice the intelligence and military folks say they gave, or both.

Biden said 169 Americans had been brought to the airport from beyond its perimeter, but he provided no details. Later, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the 169 had gathered at the Baron Hotel near the airport and were flown across the airport perimeter to safety on Thursday. He said they were transported by three U.S. military CH-47 helicopters.

Kirby said the helicopters took no hostile fire. He added that the Americans initially were going to walk the short distance from the hotel to an airport gate, but a crowd outside the gate changed the plan.

Separately, senior American military officials told the AP that a U.S. helicopter picked up Afghans, mostly women and children, and ferried them to the airport on Friday. The 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division airlifted the Afghans from Camp Sullivan, near the Kabul airport. Those officials commented only on condition of anonymity to discuss military operations.
