Big surprise…We’ve all known that for years. However it sometimes means.." look what I’ve killed, caught, captured etc." If aforementioned creature is still alive it can mean " look what I’ve let go for you to find"

Trust me on this, Toshie was a grand champion bird, vole, snake catcher. After announcing her deed she would go take a nap, leaving Dale or me ( mostly Dale) to catch and release.

People were very happy to see me back at work yesterday. I work in the garden center/seasonal/stationery departments. It rained so I didn’t get to water the mums. Most of our flowers looked pretty good because there is one other associate who cares as much about the plants as I do. But the stationery/back-to-school areas were a SHAMBLES!! Lots of bare shelves – not many folders or 3 ring binders or spiral notebooks left. But what little is left was a mess. And then there were cartfuls of merchandise that had to be put away in their proper places. I spent all day putting things back where they belonged nd when I left, I still had 3 carts full of stuff to put back on the shelves. I heard there’s a lot of merchandise still in the back room, too. I hope nobody expected me to fix the department on my first day back from vacation. I have to work the next 5 days before my next day off (Monday). Maybe by then I’ll get caught up.

I travelled to Carson City yesterday, and had to wear an N95 mask INSIDE my car for the last 20 miles, the smoke is so thick. I have an eye appointment this morning I cannot put off. These fires will not stop until we get rain or snow which is likely 6 or more weeks away.

I have a Siamese who yowls and a black kitten who trills. I wonder what they’re saying.

My Oliver paid a pre-breakfast visit to my Catnip patch. I had to lift him out of it, straighten up the plants and then deposit him at his feeding station. A bit later he tried to show his brother, Tyler, just how much he loved him by -——————— him, or attempting to. Weed does confuse a body. Looks like the Mr. Hollingsworth kitty, pictured in today’s toon, is communicating that his hoomin should share the grape product. (Can’t be our Lil Ollie, could it?).

The cat meow is one of the single most versatile linguistic utterances in the animal kingdom. Once past kittenhood, cats use it exclusively to communicate with humans, who are not good with body language. “Meow”, with minor changes in inflection, can mean anything from “hello” to “get me out of this tree”.

Growls are a whole ’nuther thing and are nuanced warnings.

    He’s Got the Meow Sound

    a song for Johnny Depp

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

There’s a meow that says, “Will you look at me?’

Another says, “Help me out of this tree.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

There’s one that wakes you up with a fright.

“Why must you sleep the en-tire night?”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

There’s a meow for when he is thir-sty

And real loud meow that means, “Feed me.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    Without rhythm, rhyme or melody,

He makes his meow replace all three.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

A friendly meow says, “stay and play”.

If you play too rough, he will meow away.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

A long, long meow, “I’m bored out of my mind.”

A short, quick meow, “Don’t leave me behind.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

He loves a game of meow-and-seek.

Gives a hunting meow, when he tries to sneak.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

There’s a meow for every place and scene.

He’ll repeat till you know what he mean.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

One meow roars, “I am king of all.”

Bossy meow means, “Come when I call.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

Soft meow hopes that prey is near.

Vicious meow says, “Stay away from here.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

He never meows when he’s out to roam.

But a special meow shouts, “I’m coming home.”

    He’s got the meow sound.

    He’s got the meow sound.

    Me-ow.

Everyone knows that “meowximus” is Latin, not Greek. The Greek is “meowapopulopulous.” Try to do better with your Indo-European bases.

Today’s comic is the cat’s meow! (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) On another note, saw eight robins, two sparrows, three juncos, and seven rabbits while out walking today.
