My wife’s grandparents actually made modifications to their basement so they could flood it and use as a pool. As a child my mother-in-law was an excellent competitive swimmer and practiced there.
There was a big beautiful classy house, marble floors in some rooms, etc. in Naperville, IL with a big indoor pool, possibly what would be considered Olympic size, on a big piece of property. I boarded my first horse in their pasture with a small barn for a couple of years. nice people. Yup, someone bought it a couple of decades ago or so, didn’t think it was big enough, tore it down and built an ugly McMansion. I think that was around the time Hinsdale, another place where there is more money than sense, had to change their zoning rules, as people were tearing down Frank Loyd Wright homes, because they weren’t big enough for them to show off. Um, you are in a Frank Loyd Wright, you can show that off. People are nuts.

Well honey. I hope you’re down there swimming when the water hits the power box.

Not even a regular/real indoor pool would be worth $1,000,000 extra

You mean real estate prices just skyrocketed in NY and NJ?

There is a silver lining in most clouds.. This recent flushing of the NY sewers and subways no doubt cleaned out a lot of rats.

Indoor pools are not easy to maintain, promote mildew and funny smells throughout the house. Of course, the same can be said of basements.

Wouldn’t recommend buying a home in New Orleans at the moment…(and I truly feel for them!)
