Years ago, I went to a folk festival in Denmark that basically took over the whole town. Great for the town’s economy, and those who came did no damage.
One fellow with unused farmland adjacent to the festival grounds wasn’t interested in the music, so during that weekend, he took a trip elsewhere. But he did not try to prevent festival-goers putting up tents on his land.
They left it clean. Not sure how that would work in the US.

Virginia Beach has a festival the last weekend in September where the locals get the beach back from the tourists.
