I remember raking up big piles of leaves, wrapping potatoes in aluminium foil and placing them in the pile and lighting the pile on fire and by the time the pile had burned down the potatoes were ready. Yes, it was a very long time ago. Now we put the leaves in the composter and eventually on the veggie beds.
