Once worked for a guy who promised a raise after my probation period was up, and then an upward career path including raises after that… yeah, I was young and naive… found that there was no raise despite successfully making it through probation, and found almost all others working there hadn’t had raises in years… owner was surprised (and upset) when the economy righted and we all left for better paying positions with other companies…

Why I changed jobs every 3 or 4 years. Salary compression. But finally got the job I loved and stay nearly 15 years….
