I keep thinking about 15 or 20 years from now, when some new reader of this strip takes a look back to 2020/2021/2022 and sees the characters wearing masks and wonders why. That’s my hope for the future.
After having spent many years in retail, the real reason is that someone put it there because they didn’t want it anymore and the lazy “employee” thought that is where it belongs. And these days maybe everyone is on drugs too.
Since the 80s more marketing driven retailers have organized the store so that the shopper has to go past as many counters and free standing displays as possible.
I worked for a company that the CEO was actually on drugs. He was removed after his arrest. The company had almost tripled in size during his 5 years running things. The new CEO had us in bankruptcy in three years. Hmmmm

Usually the reason you can’t find the creamed corn is because some idiot stocked the wrong corn in front of it
I’ve stocked groceries 20 years and seen a lot of idiot help, they don’t last long but it takes a while to fix all of their mistakes
Good help is hard to find, there were only 2 of us last night with 9 pallets
