Are they intending to eat right at the gaming table itself, or do they have a separate area for food?

One thing I’ve learned as a GM is that when it comes to certain types of food and beverages, you want to keep some physical distance between the food and the play area. This is because the food is oily, greasy, messy, or otherwise something to where you don’t want players going back and forth between their food and anything paper (such as record sheets or the manuals) without first washing their hands.

Ham sandwiches? Generally good as long as they’re not dripping with sauce or seasoning.

Grilled chicken? Only if we’re playing in the garage or the dining room.

“Extra Butter” popcorn? Permanently exiled to the kitchen.

Yes, we tend to eat pretty good in my groups, with one guy even figuring out that the drawers in an old metal filing cabinet were the right size to where each drawer could hold a deli chicken. Cue him turning the filing cabinet into a smoker.

Could it be used for trick or treating as well when Halloween comes next Sunday?

It looks like she’s emptying a bag of Gushers. And now I want Gushers.

    No! No!, and NO!!!!

In our house, eating is done only at a kitchen or dining room table and people never, ever eat while doing something else such as watching TV or playing games. When at a game, there is break time and proper eating is done. My kids are bringing up their kids with the same habits. When we had visitors they were surprised and at the same time glad, after, that eating was not part of the game, because during the break they could have a conversation about the game itself or other stuff. I know their friends liked coming to our home, because they always had company.

Even during car trips, we took time out to eat, and no eating in the car, ever!
