Then what isnā€™t power? When you give in to the pressure thereof. Am I saying that right?

Hold on. She didnā€™t tell Liz to smoke, she did that on her own. Also, she didnā€™t tell Dawn to get that haircut, she just went to the store. She didnā€™t give Dawn any money, Dawn paid for that on her own. I get what Elly is saying, but Cadence didnā€™t give these girls the money, they used their own money.

I hope Elizabeth listens to her mother, she really knows what sheā€™s talking about!

In nature thereā€™s thermal power, thereā€™s electrical power and thereā€™s atomic power. But the greatest force in nature is peer power.

I know thereā€™s a number of commenters here who love to attack Elly for some reason or other, but this is her in full brilliant mum force and I love it.

For once, Elly knows what sheā€™s talking about without being a screeching banshee..

    ā€œElizabeth . . . thatā€™s Power!!ā€

And Elizabethā€™s reply: ā€œYeah, and I want some of that.ā€

Maybe Elly can go visit Candiceā€™s houseā€¦ Talk to her mother and demanded that she be punishedā€¦ But what sheā€™ll find is a pretty rotten household.

Most kids at some time in their lives will follow a leader for awhile before considering that some leaders are idiots. When you can think about what they are leading you into and can say ā€˜heck no, Iā€™m not doing thatā€™, you certainly take back your power.Developing some standards is vital to growing up.

The trouble is, if you have two or more people together, one of them will take the lead. Itā€™s sort of what we do.

YouTube (and maybe similar internet sites) has given rise to the term ā€œinfluencer.ā€ The basic concept is much like the situation here: the influencer-to-be does something to stand out, then a significant number of people look to him/her for guidanceā€¦ even beyond the realm of the influencerā€™s vision. It is an age-old phenomenon; prophets are quoted as dictating diet and sanitary habits. It makes sense in a social way, but not in a logical way.

Jesus addressed this: ā€œit is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.ā€ Being spirits in a material world means living in a world of fleeting shadows we call understanding.

If I have influenced you, you would be wise to distance yourself from me for your own good. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program of dance music.

I suppose if she told you to overthrow the government, youā€™d do it?

Candace waited until college to tell Lizz that everything she did was a big,fat bluff because she was scared silly.

Noā€¦that is ā€œinfluence.ā€ Power pretty much means you have no choice but to obey and follow.

Having power is addictive. Be careful how you use it.

Whatā€™s wrong, Elly? Are you scared that Lizzieā€™s listening to advice on life that didnā€™t come from your PILE OF TRASH!? Jeez, it was only a few months ago that you were jealous of her listening to(Oh, Lord have mercy!) HER TEACHER!

Did Candace tell Elizabeth to smoke? Elly really does not know this, even though she has made that assumption because Candace has power!! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!!!

If you look at the actual comic strip, Candace gave Dawn and Elizabeth two cigarettes and if Elizabethā€™s speech is correct, Candace argued that Elizabeth would not know if she like smoking until she tried smoking. Considering that smoking damages your lungs, that is not a particularly good argument. Itā€™s not quite like trying poison to see if you like it, but itā€™s close. Nevertheless, Candace was proved to be correct. Dawn and Elizabeth tried it, did not like it, and decided never to smoke. It ends up that Candaceā€™s influence there is a positive one. Dawn and Elizabeth never start smoking and learn a valuable lesson all courtesy of Candace and no help from ā€œWait two months to mention itā€ Elly, who has still not condemned the smoking.
