If the bowl is too deep or too narrow it might touch the cat’s vibrasse, or whiskers and cause the cat sufficient discomfort that it would rather not eat than have that sensation. Picky cats are not always picky about their food, but rather the bowl. We feed our cats from plates and no picky eaters. Does it seem to you that your cat/s only eat from the centre of the bowl? Then get a wider bowl or use a plate.

I shake the bowl a little so the food covers the bottom again, and he eats contentedly. Problem solved.
