2 of the city founding fathers flipped a coin to determine if the name would be Portland, OR or Boston OR.

And the one in Maine was named after the one in Dorset

Portland OR would probably like to hide under a rug too, right now, what with all the crime and homelessness.

Portland, OR is a seaport, so it’s pretty close to the ocean. No waves, or tides, though.

Now do Springfield.

Given recent comments and news reports, Portland is no longer a secret anything.

The rest of us Oregonians kinda wish Portland would FALL OFF into the ocean.

We have a Portland in the Ottawa Valley. No where remotely close to an ocean but the little village is on the Big Rideau Lake.

Yes, especially with the way Portland Oregon is home to so much civil unrest which would cause the Maine city to want to be distanced from the Oregon city..

Yes, go visit Bar Harbor and leave Portland alone

No kidding! Miles apart in every sense. Thank goodness! Literally!

I was going to ask where you thought Portland IS? You know that the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean there, right?

Portland, Texas is on a bay.

A producer from the movie “Hotspot” called the city of San Jose about filming beach scenes there, and got the response of, Say what? The ocean is a mountain range away from here.

The one in Maine isn’t really considered part of Maine by the rest of Maine. Or so I’m told.
