The “distance” between universes can’t be measured except in parameters. How many directions can you go besides linear? How is it laid out? Is there a set number or is it really infinite numbers constantly expanding? To travel between universes how do you keep on course?
The multiverse…an interesting logic problem. Lets say I look in the fridge and see no milk or eggs, do I go shopping or not? I decide on a quick trip to thestore…and get in a fender bender accident. Does the timeline split into another universe where I did not go shopping? People make dozens of little decisions a day, if a simple action like that has universe altering consequences, it suggests that 7 billion people on this planet could create trillions of alternate realities a day, every day. I wonder what Einstein would have to say about it.

Remember, there’s a multiverse where Trump won in 2020.
There’s also one where Obama lost in 2008, Hillary won in 2016, Dole won in 1996 and so on.
So why assume it will be saner?
