It is OK to talk to yourself, it is even OK to answer yourself, but when you talk to yourself and then ask yourself to repeat what you just said because you werenāt paying attention, then you need help.
It depends on the subject matter. If you say things like, āRelax, everything will be fineā, āNo, you arenāt going to get firedā, āNo, you shut upā, then you might need some help. Or one could go the Stuart Smalley routeā¦ āIām good enough, Iām smart enough, and doggone it; people like meā, then just relax, everything will be fine.
I was in the breakroom at work āthinking out loudā about some things I had to deal with when I clocked back into work. Another employee came into the breakroom unnoticed by me, overheard me talking to myself and laughingly asked if I was talking to myself? I answered her, Yes I was until she interrupted me, and told her it was rude of her to interrupt a private conversation. She minded her own business after that.
I never get on my nerves. Iām always scintillating and decisive in personal conversation. Iām never boring, owing to the fact that I always the most intelligent one in the room. S/

I stopped talking to myself; I got too many stupid answers. Plus, it annoyed the voices in my head.

I tried talking to myself but it told me I was boring, to shut up and that it loved someone else. Self left me.

I tell people, youāre lucky, when you get tired of me you can leave. I have to be around myself 24/7 and it gets old fast.
