One or two nights a week I’m technically a manager

The store is closed to the public for most of my shift

You don’t want to talk to me anyway

Instead of a draft or civil service requirement I propose a mandatory retail counter service requirement to qualify to vote. Each young human would be required to put in 500 hours in a direct face to face retail sales/service position. Entry level compensation would be required.

The purpose is to create new generations of consumers who will hopefully remember what it is like to be on the wrong side of the counter as you see above. Perhaps this new generation will hesitate a bit before unloading on the poor schlub behind the counter.

But it is not all one-sided. The worker must convince an employer to hire them. The worker must actually work and would be subject the sale rules and conditions as the rest of the employees.

And, the worker may NOT be employed by their own family owned, controlled or influenced business.
