About that whole “only begotten” “virgin” birth thing…
Once when Jesus was just six years old and praying quietly in his room, his mother Mary walked in.Young Jesus looked up and asked, “I was just thinking, Mother, why am I praying to myself?”
Mary answered, “Son, I stopped asking those kinds of questions when I realized that you impregnated me with yourself.”
Hallelujah. Praise Jesus and thanks be to God for lowering himself to a state of poverty to become the most vulnerable of all: a baby, born to humble people in the hinter lands. Such is the greatness of God that he would send his only begotten son as God incarnate to redeem us and offer salvation.
Glory be to Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be word without end! AMEN!
I see the Eden story as a metaphor of human evolution. At one time human consciousness developed to a point where the human was aware of being a separate entity from the natural world around him. He became aware of himself. That, I think is one way of looking at the expulsion from Eden. (Ken Wilber: Up From Eden).
