The reason they are call conch fritters is that you lure the snail out of it’s shell, then conch it on the head to kill it.

They say crocodiles like to seize their prey, drag it back to their nests, and let it, er, ferment a couple of days before devouring it. Don’t know if that holds true for their alligator cousins, though…
Name is derived from Spanish word ’concha", which means shell, in which the animal lives!!

Mel ate two game wardens, seven hunters, and a pure-bred Guernsey cow.
