Squirrels are a lot smarter than you give them credit.

Squirrel proof? Doesn’t exist. Squirrel resistant, maybe.

We have a “canal” (what Florida developers call a big ditch) in our backyard that attracts all sorts of critters (even an otter family, so maybe it is a canal). When we bought the house some of the eaves were out of place and rats or squirrels had gotten into the attic and chewed up wiring. I don’t want to attract more rats so I’ve forgone our usual bird feeder. Even if it’s squirrel proof the birds kick enough seeds down to attract other critters and I’d rather that the rats stay down by the water.

The birds scatter more food from our feeder than they eat. The squirrels make sure nothing is wasted.

    I doubt there’s anything that’s squirrel-proof.

As long as I put out Kit & Kaboodle cat food, squirrels, blue jays, and starlings leave the bird seed to the songbirds. They eat a full bowl daily.
