I was watching one of the Jurassic Park movies the other day, and there was something I couldn’t help noticing throughout the picture. For the biggest dinosaurs, a human is barely a mouthful. If it were real life, would a dinosaur (or any other animal) really spend all that energy and time trying to catch something so small?
Mom told me that when I was little, we’d gone out to dinner, and on the way home, she wondered where I had gotten chewing gum…turned out I was still working on the celery we had with our meal. (Now I only eat it if it’s chopped.)

Some vegetables do take more energy to eat/digest than you get from them, that’s why I like to eat raw cabbage as a snack food.

That only applies if you can’t produce cellulase to digest the cellulose into glucose. Most herbivores have no problem fully digesting celery.

Celery starves you? Seriously, RJ?

Add some hummus/peanut butter or the dip of your choice and you’re there.

I guess this is the reason why I don’t like celery.

To me it an essential seasoning, only a vegetable in the biology terms.

Sometimes it takes more energy to grow them than what you get from them.

Just wear a stalk on your lapel to warn you of certain toxic gases. (Per Peter Davison, Dr. Who.)
