I got some sad news yesterday before I went to work. Iâm doing a copy and paste here as I posted yesterday on Facebook.
I just got the word that I was sort of expecting, but I was hoping not to hear. My friend, Julia died early Friday morning. She was part of my monthly ladiesâ lunch at the mall group. Julia used to work at the Walmart where I work. She worked in fabrics and crafts before she transferred over to HBA. Now our group, which used to be 10-12 strong is just down to Linda and me (and Pat, but she only comes in the summer months). I donât guess that weâll continue to meet. I forgot to ask her son, Matt if they were planning any type of funeral service. She went into the hospital 2 weeks ago after her heart stopped at home. They got her heart going again and Matt said she was improving, but then she suddenly crashed. I know that she is in a better place now but it is still hard to accept this loss.
By the way, while we used to have 10-12 people in our group, we didnât lose all of them to death. Most of them moved away. I still see Sue and BJ occasionally (rarely), but I lost all touch with Alice and her mom and Darlene. Janet died about 10 year ago and Cindy about a year and a ago, I think it was. Because of stupid COVID, no funeral service or visitation was ever held for Cindy, so I never felt closure. I never got to say goodbye. Iâm afraid the same might happen now with Julia.
From yesterdayâs comments to QOA. About that cat food, I canât identify it with just the numbers. A picture might help. I thought we did have each othersâ emails too. I believe that whisplicka (Carol) has it. If you have her email, you can get it from her.
I get another 5 days off in a row starting today! After that, Iâll be back on my regular schedule, working 5 days a week. Rats! Anyway, I had these plans about using my time off cleaning the house. Well, I did at least clean the refrigerator! But instead of doing that, Iâve been having fun.
I showed my book, Wanda Weird, to a friend (Ann) who has started her own publishing company. She will be publishing my book when I get it finished. I had sent her what I thought was my absolute final draft, but then Ann had some suggestions on how I still need to improve my story. She said the story is very good, but I need more descriptive stuff in it. Barb, her editor, (or whatever she called Barb), who was checking my punctuation & stuff agrees. Show them, donât just tell them", Ann said. So I read through my book again and found things lacking in my story. Like, when Mom is baking cookies for the church bake sale. She wants the kids to be her âofficial tastersâ. But then I have them talking about what happened in school with no more mention of the cookies until mom suggests the girls go do their homework if theyâre done with the cookies. I needed to show them EATING those cookies. And in another part when the kids get home from school, the dog is out in the yard. It had started to rain and I didnât say anything about them letting the poor dog in the house out of the rain! So I have been fixing those errors and adding more action. When Kevin gets excited, he now jumps up and down with excitement. Things like that. I LOVE writing! Itâs one of the things I love doing most of all. And Iâm having LOADS of fun adding more details, more action and more descriptive phrases to my story. I think I added more than 1000 words to the first chapter alone! I have sad stuff in the story and some funny stuff that still makes me laugh even after having read the book several times. Iâm having FUN! And now itâs time to work on my book some more.
I finally got to ride my new bike yesterday, but only for 15 minutes before the wind picked up again and my ears were hurting from the cold. Love the wide nobby tires. Today should be nice, my goal is to ride longer each day, weather permitting. I need the exercise.
âWhat a Dumpâ âŠ.. Bette Davisâ famous bitchy line from the movie âBeyond The Forestâ . The Warehouse will eventually resemble this description to a T âŠâŠ
Be it ever so messed up, thereâs no place like home. On another note, saw a raven, two finches, four golden crowned kinglets, and a varied thrush while out walking today.
