Boy, this strip IS old. Repairman? Today it’s “If it’s broke, throw it away and get a new one.”
I had a monitor that had a bad power supply. I checked it out on line and could actually order a kit with a handful of capacitors to fix it. Unfortunately, my soldering skills were not up to the task, so I went on line to see if I could find someone to do the work for me.
Most of the comments I got back were, “You cheapskate. You can get a new one for about $200 bucks.” That wasn’t the point. I did not want to send the monitor to the landfill for the want of a capacitor.
I have a too-large collection of old computers cluttering up the corner of my den. I need to wipe the drives, load them up into the truck, and take them to the place in town that recycles them. I think I will keep one of the old laptops and make it a Linux machine to play with.
Roger one by what computer scientists refer to as Brute Force tactics namely he just played that frigging game over and over until the computer conceded! ;-p

If that had been a PC with a Pentium processor, I could have understood it, but, even with a shot processor, how could he beat a Mac?

My buddy and I were playing chess with his new Apple 11e and won. Couldn’t figure out how, though.

It’s not the processor. Obviously, the machine needs more memory.

The problem is the constant upgrades to the OS. After a few years, any computer just slows down to where its unbearable

repair center? For a Mac—er—iFruit? The California Fruit Company will just push her to “invest” in a new one…

Roger has both fists in the air, so when he says he “beat the computer”……?
