A cowboy rides up to a bar, gets off his horse, goes around to the back of it, lifts its tail and smacks his lips on its back side. Another cowboy sees this and asks “What did you do that for?”
“I got chapped lips” responds the first cowboy.
“That helps?” asks the other cowboy.
“Nope,” says the first cowboy, “but it keeps me from licking them.”
I guess I was in a fog last night. When I first read this I didn’t realize the men were wearing chaps. I thought the joke was that it was an enormous chapstick because Montana is a big state. I was wondering why he didn’t use Alaska or Texas. Then I thought it was a pun on two chaps sharing a stick and wondered they weren’t Englishmen. Unlike me, it’s actually quite clever today.
