I’m with Darryl. When I was a kid, we pretty much played up and down our block or across the stream in the woods behind our house with weeds, snakes, “Dead Man’s Hill,” etc. We stayed out for hours and it seemed like we roved for miles, although I’m sure it was not that far. When we got older, we walked or rode our bikes to the ball diamond about a mile away. No parental supervision was wanted or needed.
These days neighborhood busybodies will call Child Protective Services if they spot children playing in their own yard.
