I think the last few weeks have proven we prefer the strip when the writers try to be funny instead of political.

Good arc, in that it points out the absurdity of taking anything to the extreme. Anything. There has to be some flexibility.

In re: epaphus8 and nicka93 This particular strip has always featured a certain amount of political commentary. It’s part of the package, and has been for as long as I’ve been reading it. If you don’t like it, go elsewhere. Don’t come here to whine about it. If they are wrapping up the series, then they’re doing it on their terms, as they always have, including the commentary.

……the absurdity of taking anything to the extreme.

    That hedge does not exist.

It can’t be a dense yew. (Taxus x Media)

Calling the readers “Dense” or “Dense you’” is insulting. And do you really want to mention death or taxus in a comic strip?

It can’t be French Lilac (Syringa Vulgaris)

Even if the French are vulgar, there’s no way the strip can get away with mentioning it.

It can’t be Red Twig Dogwood

Sounds too much like another comic strip.

It can’t be Aborvitae Green Giant

    One word: Payola.

    It can’t be Mock Orange

Both Northern Ireland and The Netherlands would screambloody murder.

    It can’t be Forsynthia

Anyone not named Synthia will complain.

    It can’t be Boxwood

Both the words box and wood have slang sexual meanings, and putting the two together…..

    It can’t be Wax Myrtle

Myrtle brings to mind turtle, and with Turtle Wax, we’re back to Payola.

Under rules of The Comic Police, that hedge just cannot exist.

I love the series no matter what, but I miss the characters who are too cute to be believed. I think Hammy is my favorite, but I like George and then there is RJ and Verne…

Bullying by any other name is still bullying. I’m looking at you, “woke”.

At least RJ didn’t ask if the book was about lady midget wrestling.

    A. it’s a comic strip. B. comments show how divided we have become. Everyone can have an opinion, doesn’t mean it’s right or that anyone else needs to agree. C. If offended by a strip, perhaps you should grow up just a little bit. Just my opinion of course.
