This wouldn’t work with me. Nearly every animal my family had while growing up learned quick that if I had a book in my lap, that lap was unavailable.
So instead they’d just watch closely and come hurrying into that lap the moment the book gets set aside. Who said these critters aren’t smart? ;)
Why does this remind me so of the phrase I use in starting a discussion with my husband – “If I may interrupt what you’re doing?”? After more than 50 years, he’s used to such, puts down his reading matter or computer mouse and patiently listens.

Dog-snake. Followed by cat-snakes. Just wait for baby-snakes.

I’m pretty sure those two cats wouldn’t want to be on anyone’s lap.

This is the story of my life, as I currently battle 2 dogs for the right to read the comics this morning.

Had a cat in my lap and another one snuggled up beside me while I was reading a few days ago, they stayed for nearly an hour
I needed to get up, but I just couldn’t do it until at least one of them moved

Suddenly, she’s a cat. That was my favorite thing about my cat, the lap reading.
