I think the grandma is implying that they want zoe baptized, and trying to force it on them with a subtle hint in the form of a forced handmade “gift”

Could be worse! She could’ve made it from duct tape or toilet paper! Though now that I think of it a plastic dress isn’t much better!

My paternal grandmother lived through the Great Depression and saved everything. When she passed away and we were cleaning out her house, we found an apron she had crocheted out of the string that was used to wrap butcher’s packages.
