Happened to me. My new office number was one digit off from the “long-distance information” number of 555-1212. I had to get it changed after too many individuals screaming, “Don’t tell me this isn’t ‘Information’; give me the goddam number!”
One exception was an individual who requested the number for a bank in a different state. I politely told him that he’d misdialed the leading area code… and then gave him the correct number. He was impressed! What I didn’t tell him was that that just happened to be my bank when I was in college. 8^)

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. You should see them at 9-1-0.

Not only the wrong number, but the wrong century by the look of those phones.

Calling 119 in an emergency doesn’t work either.

My old house phone number was one different form a nursing home. Used to get a lot of call from older people.
