So Monty has given up on the Mrs. Shaw is dead idea and Moondog has gone over to Monty’s because Pilsner won’t let him in due to cat trauma. Everything back to “normal”.
The first time I saw a jetpack in use was in a James Bond movie in the 60s. I thought, wow, now we will be seeing these all over the place. I couldn’t figure out why that never happened. In retrospect, I guess it had something to do with more test pilots dying than surviving; never a good ratio.
The future still hasn’t come. It never does and never will. So all those things are still right where they were half a century ago: in the future and not in the present, and the preset is where we are.
Turns out it hasn’t nothing to do with calendar years or with technology. Just as when you go over ‘there’ it turns into ‘here’ and everyplace you’re not is ‘there.’
Actually, here in the UK we are currently trying out jetpacks as a way of getting paramedics to casualties in mountainous areas, if there’s nowhere for a helicopter to land.

Jet packs are cool but it takes a real man to put on a Winged Suit. And ’Depend’s for the audience.

Without crotch straps I think that jet pack would rip itself off the wearer’s body.

That’s gotta be cold against Fleshy’s you know, flesh.
Or hot, depending on the propulsion method. For a cat you could use compressed air.
Like a couple Reddi-Whip cans.

Pilsner will need more than the door chain if this becomes widespread.

The one thing those promotional video clips for jetpack stunts never let you hear is HOW INCREDIBLY LOUD THEY ARE.

Jet packs flying time is measured in seconds. Talk to the FAA about flying cars.

Fleshy is singular. Better than James Bond, too….
