You know once you passed the mid point of your lifetime it is often said that is all down hill from here on out. Well I have passed that hump quite some long time ago, so that my spell checker has gotten to learn from me and every time I try to write about my defining moments the spell checker wants to, no, insists on, correcting it to my “declining” moments.
I actually had a kind of “defining moment” in a 3rd grade spelling bee. Of the entire class, I actually got to be one of the two last people still playing. However, right before I was told my next word to spell, some boy up near the front yelled our, “your zipper is down!” It was true, it was down. It was such an embarrassing moment that I totally messed up my next word, and did not win the spelling bee. For many years, I ALWAYS would check my zipper before I did ANY sort of public speaking.
