Isn’t Everest littered with the bodies of people who tried to climb, bodies that can’t be recovered because of the cold and the effort involved?
I don’t get why people pay many tens of thousands of dollars to do this, just so they can say they did it? For what? To impress people? Donate that money to food banks and homeless shelters, THAT would impress me.
10,000 feet? There’s nothing that low anywhere CLOSE to Everest. The valley at the base of the mountain is 5,000 m (no one measures in feet outside of the US), which is over 16,000 feet.

A lot of people have died on that mountain. Yes it’s still a challenge.

Sherpas usually walk the climber’s dogs.

You can take a helicopter half way up. After that the dog might not get a long with the oxygen mask.

If he cleans up after his dog, he’s better than most of the “real” climbers

Sigh. You would definitely get that feeling. This from a generation that can’t hike in its own backyard without requiring rescue services.

Given geological time (a few million years), the Andes will surpass the Himalayas in height.
