It’s been my experience that when you try to tempt fate, she’ll punch in the nose every time.

If it wasn’t for back luck, I’d have no luck at all.

Sometimes, I wonder if having one’s “health” may be overrated.

That’s what you call “running” all right. I don’t have the best sinuses in the world, but I can’t say I suffer from allergies. People who do have my sympathies. And cows – what’s the deal with their runny noses?

My nose does laps around the block before I get my shoes on

    I didn’t have a computer or cellphone when I was Agnes’s age…in 1972.

But I had a bike. Then somebody stole it.

    HAD her health, anyway.

Nobody has enough money, because no currently known sum of cash will pay to keep one alive and healthy forever. That needs fixing while I am still young and good looking.

We are accustomed to getting old and dying so we don’t pay attention to our relative poverty in time.

My mother used to say, “Rich or poor, it’s good to have money.” I’ll leave the interpretation of that statement to you.

As for Agnes, this is a classic example of never challenging Worse: Don’t say, “It can’t get any worse.”

A running nose usually isn’t a health problem.
