Cats eating bread? Are they making the bread? Hope this leads to an on going story.

If they don’t give refunds (and knowing our Ten Cats as I do, I cannot imagine them giving refunds), they can keep reselling the same slices of bread over and over again. It could turn into a nice profit until they lose all their customers.

    Today is:

    National Animal Crackers Day

    National Columnists Day

National Lineman Appreciation Day. We’re not talking football here. National Lineman Appreciation Day honors the men and women who work around the clock to keep the power going. If the power is on where you are reading this article, you likely have a lineman to thank. When mother nature destroys what our linemen have built up, they are on call to build it back up again as quickly as possible. These men and women work tirelessly to get emergency systems back in working order and urgently return service to remaining areas.Even when there is no crisis, they work under dangerous conditions on a daily basis. Whether they are working in trenches, near water, or on high towers, the risks are extreme. I appreciate them very much! Especially when they go out in a storm to restore power. I hate it when my power goes out, but I don’t like them going out to restore power while the storm is still brewing. I care about their safety.

Easter Monday. That’s actually listed on my calendar. It’s my Easter day since I had to work yesterday. I’m having my traditional Easter meal with a small (one pound) ham, mashed potatoes (instant – so much easier) and corn from my freezer (which I grew in my garden). Oh, and rolls too. I might even bake a cake. I haven’t decided for sure on that yet.

Easter shoppers were pretty heavy the first part of my shift yesterday as I finished condensing Easter stuff down to one aisle (both sides). I keep wondering what these people are telling their kids about why the Easter Bunny was so late. When I was a kid, the Easter Bunny came on Saturday night and we hunted for our baskets in the morning. But when it gets to be mid-afternoon on Easter Sunday and still no visit from the Easter Bunny, don’t these kids wonder what’s going on? And by shopping this late, they often go empty-handed. Yes, we still have a lot of Easter candy left, but not one Easter basket (filled or unfilled) and no more Easter eggs (empty or filled with candy). Half price Easter candy starts when we open at 6:00 am (I’ll be sleeping then).

I cleared out the space we need now to set Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and graduation.

    From yesterday’s comments:

sweetpeapete said,“On summer nights I can sit on my porch and watch the bats flying around the yard light catching insects. One of my favorite things to do.”

We used to do that when I was a kid. But we sat in the yard, not on the porch and we didn’t have a yard light, but there was a nearby streetlight. We loved doing that. Now I don’t see the bats anymore. Come to think of it, I don’t see many insects flying under the streetlights anymore either.

I love those board meetings and the ladies in the kitchen. All my hard work wrapping the cherry trees against our late hard freeze did NOT pay off, nearly all are brown and shriveled. If I am lucky, and wrap them again before the western tanagers show up, I might get a handful. Last year I gave away gallons. So disappointing. Paws crossed for the tiny peaches that still feel firm, and only some apricots appear damaged. The pear tree lost most of it’s blossoms in the wind but hoping they were already pollinated. This week’s wind should take care of the rest of the plums.

Tee-hee! Is this related to the 5-second rule? If it’s tossed in THROUGH the glass, do you have to pick it clean first?

Maybe they would be better off using the bread as coasters. Either that or selling them as roof tiles. On another note, saw three robins, a rabbit, and six juncos while out walking today.
