“All of her days have gone soft and cloudy, all of her dreams have gone dry. All of her nights have gone sad and shady, She’s getting ready to fly. Fly away.” ~John Denver with Olivia Newton-John as backing vocals
In 1976 I wanted to see what was over the next hill and around the bend in the road…..was there life amongst the myriad of stars in the sky, where did that path in the woods lead to, ….what was the fabulous secret to construction of thousands of years past which still remained while 19th an early 20th Century construction was falling apart, the beautiful cave art in France….; marriage could wait.
I was once called a “Ringer”. My husband & I were at a wedding. During the reception, instead of clinking glasses to get the bride & groom to kiss, someone would have to sing a snippet of a song with the word “Love” in it. I went first & sang the chorus from “The Promise” by Debby Boone. Not too many other people went after me, and I overheard someone saying that I was hired as a “ringer”.
Since these comics are all repeats I wonder who Charlie Brown wanted to marry the first time this aired? Maybe it was Marilyn Monroe. As for ONJ I hope she’s doing well. Last I heard she has cancer.
At last we see the realistic side of Charlie Brown. Too bad he isn’t realistic when it comes to position assignments or he’d let Lucy be pitcher. And, in ’76, I had a crush on Oksana Chusovitina. I still do.
Meanwhile, at the Home for Retired Comic Strip Characters (present day), the Little Red-Haired Girl reads this strip, looks at Charlie Brown and says, Why’d you never tell me about this, Brownie?

Olivia is a beauty in 1975, but she’d be 21 years older than you CB. Then again, Macron’s wife is 24 years older than he is.

Has Charlie Brown never been mellow? Has he ever tried to find the comfort from inside him?

In 1976 I wanted Raquel Welch. I’d just seen her in the movie “The Three Musketeers”.

Why not set reasonable goals, Charlie Brown? Try striking a player out. 1 player. ONCE.

Actually, he was more interested in Toni Tennille… but she was already spoken for.

Salvation Army hires lots of ringers before Christmas.
(Actually, I think they allow lots of people to volunteer to ring…)
