My father was renown for his hugs, which was great while growing up. Unfortunately, in his last few years his hugs to me started getting weird (don’t ask for an explanation)…and it seemed only to be to me. So now, “Daddy Hugs” causes me heart pain.
When I was grown my dad would put his arm around my shoulders and hug me – and call me “daught”. That is one of the things I miss.
I always thought he called me “daught” as a nickname. Late last year a thought hit me. Maybe it was not a special name for me. I thought about long and hard = would I be upset if it was not just name for me. I decided I needed to know and if it was not just me I would not be upset, so I emailed to my two sisters. Yep! He called them “daught” also.

Love the father son chemistry. After mother’s hug, father’s hugs are the most affectionate.
