A lot of modern day rich West Coasters got their big start using confiscated moneys, properties or businesses three quarters of a century ago. They could do it because of paranoia post- Pearl Harbour.
Inland as far as Chilliwack a Japanese farmer was accused of treachery because the swaths in his field were in a straight line “pointing” to the air base. (A signal to incoming bombers, y’know.)
I was wondering until the last panel about school. That a good remembrance of how he think as a boy – “at least there is no school” “oh, there is!!!!”

Yes in retrospect these events during WWII are bad. But we will never know what would have happened if it hadn’t happened.
