Patrick Leahy, senior senator from Vermont, is retiring upon finishing this term, the last of many. His sound judgment, up-to-date vision, and high morals will be sorely missed, but there’s no denying he’s elderly. In all the years he’s won respect from colleagues and voters, and not a single scandal.

Is it just a crazy coincident that this arc is running when concerns have recently been raised over Dianne Feinstein’s cognitive state?

I make it a habit to never quit until I’m fired. I don’t get a lot of practice.

I just read an article on BBC about the Queen and her dresses. Always matching dress and hat with a string of pearls and a brooch. Just like Lacey!

I love tidiness. I found it can be really annoying to everyone else when I point out they aren’t tidy ; )

Does anybody remember what the issue was in 1991 that actually caused Lacey to temporarily resign?

Having a defective memory is a great asset to some Members of Congress, especially the ones in the Red Hats.

I hope she still remembers her late husband. At least HE got to go out with class, like Bing Crosby dying on the golf course.
As for her resignation, she refused to share the same building with right-wing vacuous baritones.
