I never had growing up an Atari, an NES, an SNES, a Sega Genesis, an N64, a Play Station or any other game console that you hook up to the television. There were a few Windows ’98 CD-ROMS (Final Fantasy VII, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, and Lego Racers) and a few Game Boy games though.

I grew up in the 50’s. I thought we had a lot of fun riding our bikes and making up our own games from dawn to dusk, but kids now days would say I’m wrong.

My grandkids love flying kites, and summer water battles in the backyard are the best.

Kids today consider playing outside to be manual labor.

The only reason we went outside in the summer time as kids is because it was hotter in the house because we had no air conditioning

Jason should build a tetrahedral kite. I flew a six footer in junior high school. Alexander Graham Bell invented this type of kite, and flew a forty footer behind a ship that carried a man.

Then let us have meal re-enactments…. meat loaf, fried chicken, back from the days no one had heard of soy or the like. Where the middle class dinner almost always had meat or fish.

I feel bad for kids who won’t play outside. Then again, I guess some just aren’t made for summer vacation.

Dang it, Jason! Maybe when it’s either raining or frigging hot.

When I grew up, the TV broke and was not replaced. We played outside.
