I once took a spoonful of the lemon water they brought me at a fancy seafood restaurant after having the lobster…worst soup ever!

While on a motorcycle tour we spent one night at a fancy hotel. After showering and donning some clean clothes, we went down for dinner. Seeing me contemplate the little bowls of water with a small lemon wedge, the waiter patiently explained ‘finger bowl’ to us rubes. Then, after the soup, instead of bringing the main course, we were given dessert. (Say what?) Without missing a beat, the waiter told us how the Raspberry Sorbet was made with fresh fruit, and that it was a ‘palate cleanser.’ It was a relaxing, delicious meal, with a couple lessons in fine dining that mom had missed.
