“I don’t care” is wife/girlfriend-speak for “If you really loved me, you’d already know what I want to watch/eat/whatever, and choose that without me having to tell you.”
It’s a trap, fellas; it does NOT mean “I don’t care.”
That’s why people have more than one TV in their homes. Right now I am watching TV in the kitchen (our main TV) and have something or other on – wherever I gave up looking for something to watch – and husband is upstairs in our office with the TV on there. There is also a TV in our bedroom and two in the living room.
The TV in the bedroom and one of them in the living room are analog. The one in the office and the one in the kitchen are digital. The second one in the living room is the small big screen TV he bought this year to play “movie theater” as “we are never going to be able to go to the movies again” and that was something we did pre-pandemic at least once a week.
We still have the two analog TVs as I have a problem watching the digital sets – right now I am listening to the kitchen TV and sort of see the picture vaguely as it is in my side view. When I watch digital TV (other than the big screen) I often see small boxes making up the picture when there is motion instead of the picture as a solid picture and find it extremely annoying. With the big screen it is just too bright and overwhelming – I have to wear those glasses they sell for glare in the car when we watch our weekly movie for date night.

This is me because I know he doesn’t like to watch the kind of things that I like. But thankfully we both love Jeopardy!

Next time set up a video camera to catch the conversation, then play it back. If you’re lucky she may leave the room.
