I think the hapless Brutus is referring to the vicissitudes of life and Gladys refers to how she’s lifted him up, keeping him in the game as it were. My wife of 45 years has certainly done that for me.
Gladys should listen less to her mother. I expected better from Gladys. Some thoughts should stay put as thoughts. (I am one who thinks out loud, so I sadly know the difference.)
She hit the husband Lotto of life catching Brutus and he got the boobie prize. Yet Brutus would say that he was the lucky one, though not maybe at this exact moment….

So, was Brutus supposed to be her “starter husband”?

Gladys is the “it” girl. She got the “it” from Mother Gargle.

So not true. You can’t go any lower than inviting your mother.

It’s as though she is a Dunning-Kruger wife. She’s so bad at it she has no metric to understand how useless she is.

Well, that wasn’t nice.

I think most problems in a marriage are because of money? Second is kids.

Sadly, poor old Brutus Thornapple doesn’t have the mental height to ride the roller coaster. That’s why he’s always on the Merry Go Round.

Poor Brutus. When Gladys says she’s “going home to mother”, she just walks to another room… ☺

Well I doubt that Gladys’ comment had much of a uplifting effect on Brutus.

That’s a point for Gladys. Wonder where the zinger scoreboard stands today?
